I would say it more varied compared to before. I play I play mainly Bass, House and Funky but fit in some trap, grime, garage, hip hop & jungle if I can.

What was the first tune of the last set you played?

Justin Timberlake – Suit & Tie (Julio Bashmore Mix) that’s my start up tune depending on the crowd and how I feel.

If not that track, I will start off with ‘Funkystepz – Vice Versa’

What you got going on right now?
Got a release called Amsterdam on French label Moveltraxx which came out on the 20^thMay

And also got a instrumental EP coming out in June. We got a Single called Bring Me Back featuring Lauren Mason coming out in July too. So loads of music.

Good people, good company. I’m sure Renay and Stimpy will say “being drunk and good alcohol” but I don’t drink.

At Fabric it was Forward vs Rinse it was amazing must have been like 2 years ago. The music and vibes was out of this world it was ram packed. I djed at Bestival in isle of wight that is another big highlight and fun.

Drink of choice?

Renay & Stimpy will take anything that will get them drunk! *laughs* As I said, I don’t drink, so Lemonade and Lime for me.

Silvio Ecomo & Chuckie – Moombah (Afrojack Mix) never fails me.

But I got a love for Dr Gonzo – Bust ‘em Up.

Where are you living these days?

North West London!  

Describe the music you play right now? 

 The music i play varies slightly depending on where i’m playing but on the whole nowadays i’d say my sets mainly consist of house and garage! Having said that i’m a firm believer in just playing what you like! If there is something a bit out of the ordinary  between say 115bpm and 140 i’ll find a way to play it!

Name a couple tracks that you’ve been regularly playing in your set’s this year?

 I regularly draw for a little bit of old skool an i have been playing this one a lot so far this year! That bassline still gets me everytime!!

Been hammering this one from Leftwing and Kody! Out recently on Exploited “Lost”

What was the first tune of the last set you played? 

Opened with this one last weekend at Corsica Studios

What you got going on right now?

 Still spending a lot of time in the studio working on my production! Anyone who has had to teach themselves knows what a long process this is! Also organising my own promotion to be held later this year along with some friends and just started getting tunes together for part 2 of this: 

Aside from music, what is essential to a good party?

A proper sound system is essential! The other key ingredient is good people with no attitude who are there just to party!

What was the best party you’ve ever been to, and why? 

The Basslaced Boat Party at Outlook last year was pretty special! Mixing to a few hundred ravers in the middle of the sea with a fat Funktion 1 rig is a lot of fun! The best parties are those first few house parties you go to when your 13-14 and you start getting on it!

#2 INSIGHT: ODESSA + IMPEY

Invited by Jura Whisky, the first stop ahead of the Island was to Whyte Mackay’s head office in Glasgow to meet Richard Paterson master blender. A character who wanted to sort the whisky drinkers from the “Pussies” as he gave us a brief history of the famed Scotch, sorting the malts from the blends, providing pretty much everything you’d need to know in 30 odd minutes on Whisky. A character to say the least, with a nose insured to similar value as Beck’s right foot in his pomp. Jura whisky is for someone who doesn’t really count themselves as a Scotch drinker is particularly palatable. I normally drink Irish Whiskies finding them smoother and less harsh but newly educated and a fair few drams later can appreciate more than a drop. It’s pretty impressive the level of care and attention put into booze. They source the best barrels from Bourbon makers in the States and also Sherry amongst others from southern Europe. Whisky draws out the flavours in the woods and when knowing what you’re looking for become very flavoursome and palatable.

Having been brought up to speed in the boardroom, we ventured west to Islay by plane and then by ferry to Jura to drink drams on the dock and enjoy a lodge which can be rented for a meer two grand a night. It’s a pretty special journey from London to an Island once on the verge of ruin as its population fled. First to the New World then probably to Glasgow in search of more prosperous times and lest isolated punishable climes. The distillery shut and was left with a half built roof for a number of years until the land owners of Jura got together to save the distillery and inject some life back into the Island. In 1963 they re-open and began distilling Whisky in large, beautifully golden copper stills. You couldn’t find a more difficult and inconvenient location to make and distribute booze from but a special place nonetheless which adds to the experience.

Albeit an arduous place to get to, its Paps usher you on and the natural beauty of the place makes it worth while. The seas surrounded the place were as flat as an iced over lake, but looming about 45 minutes boat journey is on appearance a tame vortex if there ever was one. When the sea gets rough this vortex has sunken a few ships and quite mesmerising on a flat and sunny day. Truly amazing Island, with some of the most hospitable people you could come across. If you fancy a trip, why not head out for the Whisky Festival in a couple of weeks.
