Mala In Cuba Listening Party
August 6th, 2012 by NoahZeenyA few weeks ago I got an invite to Mala’s listening party for his new album ‘Mala in Cuba’. I found it pretty odd that the jam was held at the private members club, LOW, in St. James’s. It turns out that LOW hosts one of very few VOID sound systems, which had been especially made for the space. The VOID system certainly proved itself when its 21″ bass speakers were put into practice when Mala’s second track (Mulata) from the album dropped. With drinks proved by Havana Club and the infused Cuba riffs of trumpets, keys and horns over Mala’s deep bass it was a very enjoyable listening session. Stand out tracks for me were ‘Changguito’ due to the massive horn fanfair and ‘Calle F’, which is one of two lead singles out today the other is ‘Cuba Electronic’ which you can see the video for below.

The single is out today on Brownswood with the album to follow on September 10th.
Big shouts to Ashes57 for the photos and Gilles and the Brownswood gang for inviting me down.
