UnderCurrent @ Tate Tanks
August 14th, 2012 by @nick1lewis1Tate’s Young People’s Programme presents UnderCurrent, a series of events, installations and interventions by audio, visual, digital and performance artists. Kicking off this Thursday in the recently opened Tanks at Tate Modern will host 12 artists and collectives until Monday the 27th of August. A broad range of BNTL extended family are taking part, including the good people at ISYS, Orange Dot, Rinse and The W Project. Amongst this lot are some pretty amazing traditional artists such as Jon Fawcett and Leo Asemota with each day the Tanks are transformed showcasing a different artist and collective from this broad spectrum of talent. This is certainly not to be missed, a standout for me is Michael Barnes-Wynters’ ‘Dutty Lingo’.

The-W-Project – Words Of Wisdom – Private View
March 9th, 2012 by ARCHIVEI must say, yesterday night the fine ladies were all out in full force the woman to man ratio was like 8:1 something I wasn’t complaining about.
Participants have been asked to express their wise words on a postcard in the medium of their choice – anything from screenprinting and collage to pencil and biro. This collection of mini-artworks will then be displayed side-by-side to form a wall of knowledge, and give visitors to the show a unique snapshot of female creative insight in 2012. We hope that by completing their words of wisdom, contributors may inspire others and add something special to discussions about women in society, their working roles, lives and opportunities.
In total there was contribution from 85 females artists. All contributing a designed post card in various different art mediums, peep the flicks below.
The exhibition continues on until Sunday the 12th of March over at the > > > KK OUTLET
Keep a look out for the various other W Project initiatives, to be taking place throughout the year which will include work shops for secondary school girls, special dinners and inspirational talks by some of the most revered women in the creative industry.
Loving bntl like a fat kid loves cake.

Aiming to celebrate, connect and inspire women working across the creative industries, and provide a platform for sharing knowledge, we are inviting an exciting mix of female talent to contribute a creative response to the question: what are your words of wisdom?
